You may not be able to see it, but it's there :).
Make sure you remove the film before use. It peels right off, like this:
I think it is easiest to remove if you start at an edge, but sometimes the film can be really hard to see! If this is the case for you, try gently agitating the surface of the piece along the rim with your fingernail. The goal is just to get the film to bubble, scuff, or distort enough that you can see it and can get hold of it to peel back.
